Algebraic fluency
Strengthen manipulation, functions and notation so harder topics are not blocked by earlier gaps.
100% online across the UK
Develop the algebraic fluency, modelling skills and multi-step reasoning needed for A-level Maths, with targeted support for exam technique and difficult topics.
Outcomes
A-Level tuition strengthens the algebraic fluency, reasoning and multi-step problem solving needed across Pure Maths, Statistics and Mechanics.
Strengthen manipulation, functions and notation so harder topics are not blocked by earlier gaps.
Connect calculus, trigonometry, sequences, vectors and proof instead of learning methods in isolation.
Translate contexts into mathematical models, select methods and interpret results accurately.
Develop a reliable approach to unfamiliar, synoptic and multi-stage questions.
What we can cover
A-Level depth
The transition to A-Level Maths can expose small weaknesses in algebra, functions, trigonometry and notation very quickly. Tuition can repair those foundations while keeping pace with new course material, so students understand why a method works as well as how to execute it.
Support can include algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms, differentiation, integration, numerical methods, vectors and proof according to the learner’s specification.
Students can work on probability, distributions, hypothesis testing, data interpretation and choosing suitable statistical methods. Attention is given to explaining conclusions in context rather than treating the work as a sequence of calculator commands.
Lessons can connect forces, motion, moments and modelling assumptions to the mathematical techniques used to solve them. Diagrams, sign conventions and interpretation of results are developed alongside calculations.
Higher-mark questions often combine several techniques without naming the topic. Tuition can practise recognising structure, choosing a route, keeping working organised and checking whether intermediate results make sense.
Exam preparation
Past-paper style work can be selected around recurring errors and timed where useful. The goal is to improve method choice, algebraic accuracy, use of notation, interpretation and checking rather than repeatedly completing whole papers without analysing why marks were lost.
Bring the specification, school scheme of work, mock feedback or topic list and sessions can follow the course being studied.
Early questions can identify whether a new topic is genuinely difficult or whether an earlier GCSE/A-Level skill is causing the problem. Repairing the prerequisite often unlocks several later topics at once.
TETS is led by Dr Louis Mbua Egbe, an engineer and educator with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Thermal Energy Engineering and teaching experience that includes the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education. Read more about the founder.
Students taking Maths alongside Physics can also explore A-Level Physics tutoring. All school-level routes are listed on the GCSE & A-Level tuition page.
Frequently asked questions
Use the free consultation to discuss current topics, exam board, target outcome and whether the student needs ongoing support or focused help with particular areas.
Yes. Sessions can be organised around the areas in the learner’s specification and the topics currently limiting progress.
Yes. Weak algebra, functions, trigonometry or notation can be identified and strengthened while the student continues with A-Level material.
Yes. Bring the specification, school scheme of work or mock feedback and tuition can be aligned to it.
Timed work can be used where useful, alongside detailed review of method choice, accuracy, notation and recurring errors.
